Volunteer Position Descriptions Hours available are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am until 2:00 pm We are very flexible to meet your needs. Receptionist: Greets clients presenting for assistance. Creates new files on clients or pulls existing file. Has client prepare new application or makes corrections to current application, in preparation for seeing a counselor. Answer the telephone, directing call as necessary or taking messages. Assist with minimal maintenance of confidential files. Maintain neat and orderly work area.
Counselor: Reviews previous or new file prior to seeing client. Interviews client to gain reasonable knowledge of the situation or facts that cause the client to present for assistance. Through an intake assessment process, the counselor makes an eligibility determination to see if we can assist the person or family. Counselors also provide clients with certain responsibilities in order to assist them with becoming self sufficient by means of empowerment. Those responsibilities include potentially filing for food stamps or other means of assistance, referring them to ongoing food pantries and agencies that provide services above and beyond those provided by CCC. Counselors further provide clients with generic Christian Counseling and basic financial advice when necessary.
Food Pantry: Dispense pre-determined food quantities to individuals or families, upon receipt of a food voucher from counselors. Maintain minor reporting forms as required by the agency. Refill designated food bags as needed to keep shelves full. Assist in maintaining the food inventory, product shelves and freezer refrigerator storage, as directed by the pantry coordinator. Monitor and assist with proper storage temperatures of freezers and refrigerator, as well as monitoring guidelines for safe food storage. Maintain neatness, cleanliness and safety of pantry.
Janet’s Korner Thrift Store Opening days & hours - Monday-Thursday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Friday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Janet’s Korner Thrift Store: Maintain and/or re-arrange merchandise in the store as directed by the store manager. Assist clients or customers with finding specific merchandise. Maintain clothing and other items in the store in a neat and orderly fashion. Assist with receiving donations, sorting, tagging, pricing and display of merchandise when needed.
Clothing Warehouse: Take in donated clothing and household items. Sort through same, keeping selected items as directed by the Store Manager. Hang and tag items of clothing kept for resale in appropriate areas. Store saved household items on designated shelving provided for such items. All clothing and household items passed over will be bagged and saved for distribution to another agency. Assist with keeping the work area neat, clean and orderly.
Floater: Floater positions can consist of any hours on any weekday. Duties may include clean-up or helping in any given department for whatever time a volunteer is comfortable volunteering.
CCC is pleased to accommodate anyone regardless of the length of time one has to offer. CCC is run by a dedicated staff of approximately 34 volunteers and we strive to serve lunch to our staff and volunteers each day.
